Agnipath Scheme: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh provided details of the new initiative at a media briefing shortly after the Prime Minister-led Cabinet Committee on Security approved the scheme which the government said would allow “patriotic and motivated” youth to serve in the armed forces for a period of four years.
“Under the ‘Agneepath’ scheme, Indian youth will be provided an opportunity to serve in the armed forces as ‘Agniveer’. This scheme has been brought to strengthen the security of the country. It is a transformative scheme,” Singh said in presence of the three service chiefs.

How much salary will you get?
If we talk about the salary in this scheme, according to the Ministry of Defence, the youth will get an annual package of 4.76 lakh in the first year in this scheme. At the same time, in the last year i.e. in the fourth year, it will increase to 6.92 lakh. At the same time, the benefit of risk and hardship allowances will also be available to the people of the army. At the same time, after the completion of 4 years of service, the army youth will be given Rs 11.7 lakh as service fund. Let me tell you that there will be no tax of any kind on this amount.

Among the veterans, Major General BS Dhanoa (retired) tweeted, “Two serious recommendations to the just announced recruitment policy for the armed forces; a. Increase the service period of new recruits to a min of seven years b. Make the retention of those keen to serve longer at least 50 percent.”
Senior Army officer Major General Yash Mor urged that the armed forces should not be looked at from an economic point of of view. “Military life and career can’t be evaluated from money saved to the exchequer,” he tweeted.
Agneepath Scheme: How much will be the salary of ‘Agniveers’ and who will get a chance?
The monthly salary of an ‘Agniveer’ in the first year of employment would be Rs 30,000 and the in-hand amount would be Rs 21,000 as Rs 9,000 would go to a corpus with an equal contribution of the government.
