PM Kisan Samman Nidhi : On the first day of the New Year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 10th instalment of financial benefit under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), transferring an amount of over Rs 20,000 crore to more than 10 crore beneficiary farmer families. Union Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar was also present during the event.
The amount was transferred into the accounts of over 10 cr farmers today.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PMKSN), Prime Minister’s Farmer’s Tribute Fund is an initiative by the government of India in which all farmers will get up to ₹6,000 (equivalent to ₹6,300 or US$84 in 2020) per year as minimum income support. The initiative was announced by Piyush Goyal during the 2019 Interim Union Budget of India on 1 February 2019. The scheme has cost ₹75,000 crore (equivalent to ₹790 billion or US$11 billion in 2020) per annum and has come in effect from December 2018. ₹6000 per year will be paid to each eligible farmer in three instalments and will be deposited directly to their bank accounts.

How P M Kisan Beneficiary list is prepared?
- The state government prepares the database of farmers who are eligible for this scheme.
- It is the responsibility of the state government to identify if the farmer is eligible or not.
- The beneficiary will fill the self-declaration form which also contains an undertaking.
- This undertaking will be used for the verification of the eligibility of beneficiaries.
- The state government will confirm the land ownership in their land records.
- Then the eligible beneficiary list is published on pmkisan.gov.in at the village level.
- After all this, the state government will upload the list of eligible farmers on the PM Kisan portal.
